Triple-digit heat, rain possible today

Southwest Florida will be hot again today with another chance for rain.

There is a 40 percent chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., the National Weather Service reports.

Temperatures are expected to reach 91 degrees with a heat index as high as 105. The relative humidity will be at 70 percent with winds out of the east at 6 mph. The temperature low will be 76 under partly cloudy skies.

The rain chance will drop to 30 percent on Monday but will increase to 50 percent on Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather service said.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible after 2 p.m. on Monday with a temperature high of 92 and a heat index of 105. The temperature should drop to 78 degrees.
