The county fair is as American as blue ribbon-winning apple pie. At the Collier County Fair, opening at 5 p.m. this Friday, the public will find traditions (livestock judging) and a few twists (Fair Idol — presumably like American Idol but without the comedy of Randy, Paula and Simon).
Festivities continue for more than one week, ending at 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12.
Go for the ATV pulling. Go for the swine racing. Go for the first-ever Fear Factor and watch your neighbors eat disgusting things. Just go and enjoy the sights, sounds and maybe even the smells. The fairgrounds are located 10 miles east of I-75 (exit 111) on Immokalee Road.
Be sure to check the Web for special deals, like senior day, and see a full schedule of events at www.colliercountyfair.com.
