Only those in the local tennis fraternity really know how much Art Allen has meant to the game.
But now, the city — in a very public way — is ready to give something back to the man who has given so much.
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, the Cambier Park Tennis Center near downtown Naples will host a renaming ceremony. The Cambier Park Tennis Center officially will become the Author L. Allen Tennis Center.
At 4 p.m., Allen will participate a tennis exhibition with the official naming ceremony starting at 5:30.
There rarely has been a tournament locally that Allen Systems Group hasn’t sponsored or backed in some other way. Most notably, the annual, month-long City of Naples Championships in May at Cambier have carried the ASG sponsorship in recent years.
Allen has been one of the most talented players in Naples as well. City officials see it only fitting that Allen’s name become part of the history of the storied complex.
The public is invited to attend Wednesday’s festivities.
