Price, Taylor lead the pack in fundraising for latest filing period

Incumbent Councilman Gary Price has collected $56,530 in campaign contributions so far, making him the top money-getter among six candidates running for Naples City Council.

Campaign spending reports filed Friday show Price, a financial manager who was appointed five months ago to fill a vacancy, raised $31,975 since the last deadline, Jan. 13. That amount is just dollars ahead of the next closest candidate, Councilwoman Penny Taylor, who has collected $39,275 to date; $31,160 during this filing period from Jan. 15 to Feb. 2. The filing deadline was 5 p.m. Friday.

The third biggest campaign coffers belong to William Willkomm III, who owns a real estate company, Perfect Properties. Willkomm has collected $24,800 to date, with $22,250 coming in during the filing period ending Friday.

Civil attorney Michael Volpe, a former Collier County commissioner, was next with $22,670 in monetary contributions to date, and $12,220 of that collected this filing period.

Also collecting contributions were:

-- Jenah Victor, who works in global marketing and has raised $11,900 to date, $6,900 of it during the latest filing period.

-- Real estate attorney Pamela Stewart, has garnered $10,498 to date, with $5,598, this period.

Also collecting contributions this period were the Naples Preservation Action Committee, which took in $7,000 and spent $445. The Naples Citizens Heritage Trust, took in $13,350 and spent $9,436. According to the report, the entire $9,435 was on advertising in the Naples Daily News.
