Chilly mornings in forecast through weekend

Temperatures could drop to the mid-30s early Thursday in interior regions of Southwest Florida, forecasters said today.

The National Weather Service said cool temperatures will stay in the forecast through early next week, with highs struggling to surpass the 60s.

The temperature today is expected to reach about 65 in Naples and 67 in south Lee County, forecasters said. The low should dip to about 45 in Naples early Thursday, although temperatures in interior areas could fall to the mid-30s, with wind chills as low as 33 degrees, the weather service said.

The high on Thursday should top out at 66 degrees with a low early Friday near the coast again dropping to the mid-40s.

The cooling trend will continue through the weekend.

The high on Saturday should reach 72 degrees with breezy conditions, then Sunday’s high will climb only to about 62 degrees, forecasters said. A slight chance of rain is in the forecast both days.

The average high for today’s date is 75 degrees and the average low is 54, according to weather service records.
