Immokalee handles Palmetto Ridge

The Immokalee Indians pulled away in the third quarter and beat the Palmetto Ridge Bears, 76-65, on Tuesday in the Class 4A District 12 tournament at Lely.

The Indians (10-12) advance to face top-seeded Golden Gate tonight at 6. Crosstown rivals Naples and Lely play the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.

"We were able to get going in the third quarter and extend the lead a little bit, do some of the things we wanted to do, pressure 'D' and get some turnovers," Immokalee coach Tony Allen said. "We didn't shoot the ball that well early, but we were able to hit some shots in the second half. Hopefully, we'll be able to do that (tonight)."

Allen Green scored 17 points and Renold Jean-Louis added 14 for the Indians, who were blown out by the Titans in their last meeting.

"It's going to be tough," Allen said. "They're a well-coached team, very athletic. They're going to do some things we're definitely going to have to be cautious of.

"We didn't play well against them the last time we played them. They have a lot of momentum right now, but it's no time for the weak. If you want to continue to play, you've got to play night in and night out."
