Naples police probe murder-suicide

Naples police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in the city’s upscale Park Shore neighborhood.

Police said a man and woman were reported dead at about 9:37 a.m. today at 655 Fountainhead Way. A co-worker of the man went to the house this morning and discovered the bodies, authorities said.

The address is located between Crayton Road and U.S. 41 North, and south of Park Shore Drive.

Police told neighbors they found enough evidence at the scene to declare the case a murder-suicide. The victims appeared to be in their 40s or 50s, police said.

Information about the cause of death wasn’t available this afternoon.

The one-story yellow home was cordoned off with yellow police tape as two police cars parked in front. A Mercedes-Benz was parked in the driveway inside the crime scene.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will conduct the crime scene investigation.

The last homicide in the city limits of Naples occurred in 2001. In that case, an elderly man shot his wife after she was diagnosed with a terminal illness, police said.
