Forecasters are warning of an increased fire danger across Southwest Florida today because of a dry air mass that will drop humidity levels.
A red flag warning is in effect from noon to 6 p.m. today. A fire weather watch will be in effect Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service said a dry air mass is spreading into South Florida today, resulting in relative humidity levels below 35 percent. Similar conditions are expected Friday afternoon.
A weather service statement said conditions today will “create explosive fire growth potential.”
The high temperature today is expected to reach 67 degrees at the coast and 70 degrees inland. The low tonight will drop to about 48 degrees near the coast and 45 degrees inland.
A 30 percent chance of rain is in the forecast for Saturday.
