The Florida Firecats announced today the team has added a native Floridian to the roster.
Alfred Peterson was assigned to the team by the league office. The 6-foot-3-inch, 255-pounder from Rutgers finished his college career with 142 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 43 games.
"He's another one of those Florida guys that we think can jump right in and contribute" Firecats coach Kevin Bouis said in a statement.
Despite playing on the defensive line in college, the Firecats plan to use Peterson as a fullback and linebacker.
