The Miami Jackson Generals routed Gulf Coast 60-30 in the Region 4-5A quarterfinals Thursday at Jackson.
The Generals entered the game unbeaten in the state and quickly dispatched of the Sharks, who couldn’t deal with Jackson’s relentless pressure.
Jackson will travel to West Boca Raton Tuesday in the Class 5A Region 4 semifinal.
Led by Carla Stubbs, who scored 17 of her game high 21 points in the first, the Generals jumped out to a 31-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Jackson led by 29 at the break, and slowed down in the second half after pushing the game to a running clock with 6:34 to play in the third.
Gulf Coast coach Pierre Eaton admitted Jackson’s speed was simply too much for his Sharks.
“Their pressure caused a lot of problems for us,” Eaton said.
“Their guards did a great job and we couldn’t adjust.”
