I have been a subscriber to the Daily News for 5-1/2 years and enjoy reading it.
However, I find that the paper exhibits some strange behavior at times.
When you started putting those ridiculous ad stickers on the front page you received and printed many letters criticizing them. Never stopped you from continuing to use them even today.
The introduction of the new weekend TV guide was also roundly booed. I hate it. It’s still here and I assume will remain so.
You just discontinued the Sunday Finance section, my personal favorite section of the paper. The complaints about this were explained by your editor, who said that a survey showed that there was little interest in this section. I was not surveyed. Who was?
With all the complaints about Collier County’s higher gas prices and your own editorial on the subject, there has been no investigative journalism by the paper to determine why this is so.
Then there is the Bonita jogger rape case, about which I wrote asking why a twice-convicted felon (in November and December 2005) was a free man and on the street to be charged with rape. Your reporter did not address this and the paper has not followed up, despite the fact that you mentioned it in your lead editorial on the day you printed my letter.
Now I have these matters off my chest, I do wish there would be more attention paid to your readers, their questions and concerns.
