Naples murder-suicide still under investigation

The first homicide case in the city in five years remains under investigation.

Investigators are waiting for test results before confirming the identities of two people killed in Wednesday’s murder-suicide in the Park Shore neighborhood, said Naples police Lt. Robert Bock.

Officials said they don’t feel comfortable making a visual identification, so they’re waiting for some other tests to confirm everything.

Bock said autopsies will be performed on the bodies. He didn’t know when the autopsies would occur or when positive identifications would be available.

The bodies were found at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at 655 Fountainhead Way.

Family members on Wednesday confirmed that Stephen John Lennon, 48, and Nilda C. Mattaini, 51, were found dead inside the house.

Investigators are trying to determine how long the bodies had been inside the home before they were discovered. Investigators are processing evidence in the case.

Lennon had a record of domestic violence against Mattaini.
