George Cariste, 70, of Marco Island, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Naples Community Hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Perth Amboy, N.J., a son of the late Vincent and Anna (Haluska) Cariste.
George was a retired home builder from Colts Neck, N.J., who moved to Marco Island four years ago after visiting for 25 years. He was a member of San Marco Catholic Church, the 7-11 Club and the Italian American Club, all of Marco Island.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Shirley M. (Curtis) Cariste; his two daughters, Cynthia A. Cariste of Macungie, Pa., and Shirley A. Totin (Brian Gore) of Saylorsburg, Pa.; and a son, George P. Cariste, of Naples; four grandchildren, Charlie, J.D., Christie and Amy; and a great-grandson, John Daniel; sisters, Christine Marushak, of Sewarren, N.J., and Diane Zara of Fords, N.J.; and brother, Vincent Cariste of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; and many wonderful friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 Elkcam Circle, Marco Island.
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Marco Island Cemetery with Father J. Patrick Boyhan, officiating.
