Night for our stars

The ABLE Academy Foundation, a not-for-profit organization for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, is sponsoring “Night for our Stars” at 6 p.m. Friday at the Sanibel Steakhouse, 24041 U.S. 41 S., Bonita Springs. The event includes hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, a silent auction and its “Dunkin’s Diamonds Champagne Diamond Drop” —a chance to win a diamond placed in one of 100 glasses of champagne. $100 (diamond drop), $35 (admission). Cell phone collection

Project HELP is collecting used cell phones from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Crime Prevention Week Display inside Coastland Center, 1900 U.S. 41, Naples. Phones, batteries and chargers may also be dropped at 850 Central Ave., Suite 201, Naples, until Aug. 31. Information: 649-1404

Humane Society fundraisers

-- The Humane Society of Lee County will sponsor a doggie wash fundraiser from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Veridian, a Gulfstream Homes community on McGregor Blvd., west of San Carlos Blvd., Fort Myers. Micro-chipping for dogs and cats, fingerprinting for children, free hot dogs and drinks, prizes, games and activities will be part of the event. $10 (micro-chip), $5-$10 ( doggie wash, depending on size). -- A cocktail party and fundraiser for the Humane Society of Collier County will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at Zen Restaurant, 895 Fifth Ave. S., Naples. The event will feature appetizers, a raffle and a featured they’re calling Pet a Pup for a Buck. Free admission. 643-1880, ext. 19

-- Options, the thrift store for the Shelter for Abused Women and Children, is having a half-price sale in the store’s boutique today through Saturday at 968 Second Ave. N., Naples. The store is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays. Information: 434-7115

-- Renew, the thrift store that supports the Campus of Care for the First Assembly Ministries, is opening Tuesday at 1712 Commercial Drive, Naples. Store hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays. Information: 774-1802

Back-to-school donations needed

-- The Shelter for Abused Women and Children needs new back-to-school merchandise for children of domestic violence. Shoes, clothing, backpacks, markers, Kleenex, glue, pens, highlighters, rulers and papers — as well as donations — are needed. Information: 775-3862, ext. 235

-- The Salvation Army will be collecting school supplies from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Wal-Mart Super Store, 9885 Collier Blvd., Naples. You can also drop-off supplies from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays at 3180 Estey Ave., Naples.

Champagne reception

A champagne reception to view the live auction artwork for Arts for ACT 2006 will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wachovia Bank, 1530 Heitman St., Fort Myers. Bob Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Darryl Pottorf and other artists have donated 60 pieces for the auction. Free. (239) 939-2553

Golf tournament
