Clyde Barden, 43, of 2922 Santa Barbara Blvd., was charged with unarmed robbery, felony battery, petit theft and resisting arrest without violence.

The victim, Nolan Gil Sanchez, 45, reported that while he was washing his hands at about 12:30 a.m. at Snapper’s, 2634 U.S. 41 East, Barden came up from behind and asked if he knew “Jane.” Authorities said Barden then said “let me show you something” before removing the man’s wallet from his pocket.

Sanchez fought back and Barden struck him in the jaw, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said. The wallet was found in the sink with an undisclosed amount of money missing.

Barden was seen getting into a silver pickup truck, which stopped near the George Washington Carver Apartments in Naples. Barden was found running behind the buildings toward Fifth Avenue North and was arrested.

The battery charge is a felony because Barden has a previous conviction.
