BC's Brezovsky slugging for Irish

Andy D’Alessio, top-seeded Clemson’s starting first baseman, isn’t the only former Barron Collier player in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Former Cougar Ross Brezovsky, an infielder who started all 54 games he played at Notre Dame this season, will join the Fighting Irish in the regional group at Lexington, Ky. The Irish, seeded third in the four-team group, face College of Charleston today at 2 p.m.

Brezovsky, a sophomore for the Big East champion Irish, batted .299 for the season with 12 doubles, third-best on the team, four home runs and 42 RBIs, also third-best on the team. The Irish enter the tournament at 45-15-1.

In Notre Dame’s 7-0 win over Louisville in the Big East title game, Brezovsky gave the Irish their biggest hit, a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. It was his fourth hit and fifth RBI of the Big East tournament.
