Letter of the Day: For the birds

I need a clarification from our Collier County commissioners.

I recently installed a birdhouse in my backyard. It was built for bluebirds and had the exact, properly sized entryway for them.

A young couple recently moved in and seemed quite happy.

Since my son gave me the birdhouse, I feel it would fall within the category of low-cost housing.

Two days ago, a much larger redheaded woodpecker came and evicted the bluebirds and set about enlarging the entry.

Since the entry of the “gap” was too small for the woodpecker, would this be classified as “gap” housing? Would this affect the number of units that can be built in the area?

I have taken the birdhouse down until I receive a clarification.
