Dear Editor:
I loved your cartoon, however, it's not 100 percent accurate. I've worked for Collier County EMS for five years and just took a position with Lehigh Acres Fire Department.
I felt as if I had almost no choice, it's not all about the money, but the working conditions — being forced to work due to inadequate staffing and the constant increases in employee contributions to health insurance. I felt like I was pushed out of a job I truly love and that I'm good at, just by the way employees are being treated.
This month, EMS lost 10 to 12 very experienced paramedics and firefighters and I know for a fact at least four went to fire departments and took a $10,000-$12,000 pay cut. What does that tell you?
