A woman was hit by a train and pinned beneath it in Fort Myers on Friday evening.
The accident happened near 3743 Palm Beach Blvd. at about 7 p.m., according to the Fort Myers Police Department. One of the woman's arms was injured seriously, and she was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
According to police reports, a woman and a man were sitting on the tracks as the train approached. The engineer sounded his horn and the woman attempted to stand but fell back down before she was hit.
The man was not injured.
Paramedics and police officers were able to free the woman from beneath the train.
