Warm, mostly dry week in forecast

The rainy season has yet to arrive – a fact that will become evident this week as dry conditions make their way to Southwest Florida.

Skies will be mostly sunny today with a high temperature in the upper 80s. A 10 percent chance of isolated showers is in the forecast for Southwest Florida, although more storms are expected today on the state’s east coast, the National Weather Service said.

The low is expected to drop to the low 70s tonight, then highs the rest of the week will hover near 90 degrees, forecasters said.

Dry conditions are expected until a 20 percent chance of rain enters the forecast on Thursday. Greater chances of rain are expected Friday and into the weekend, the weather service said.

The average June brings 8.18 inches of rain to Naples Municipal Airport, according to weather service records. The average high temperature on today’s date is 89 degrees.
