Bonita gives Boy Scout troop flag for ceremony

As part of approving a special permit for Flag Day, the Bonita Springs City Council today gave the area Boy Scout Troop an American flag as part of the troop's ceremony retiring flags.

Boy Scout Troop/Cub Scout Pack 109 will host its annual Flag Day Ceremony June 14 at Riverside Park. The troop had the ceremony at the park three years ago and will return after that absence.

The ceremony will run from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the park, and the Bonita Springs Fire District will be present to make sure all fire codes are followed during the retirement ceremony.

Mayor Jay Arend handed the troop's representatives the city's American flag to be retired shortly before the special permit was approved.
