City approves new traffic signal at Bernwood Parkway, U.S. 41 intersection

Motorists on U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs will have another traffic light to deal with eventually as the City Council today approved the engineering for a traffic signal at the corner of Bernwood Parkway and the north-south thoroughfare.

Bernwood Parkway, which used to be called Signal Road, intersects U.S. 41 south of Old 41 by the plaza which includes the Bonita Regal Cinemas.

The city is paying Pitman-Hartenstein & Associates $27,402.50 to engineer the construction and the bidding process for the light. The cost of the installation will be known after the project is bid.

Before the signal is swtiched to a green, yellow, red situation, it will be left flashing for at least two weeks to get motorists used to it being there.
