Two girls helped capture burglary suspects Tuesday in Naples Manor, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lorenzo Martinez-Alvarez, 24, and Fernando Rodriguez-Lozano, 32, both of 5204 Texas Ave., were arrested and charged with burglary in connection with the incident.
Authorites said that at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, a man knocked on the door at a home in the 5300 block of Dixie Drive where two girls, ages 10 and 12, were inside. Before answering the door, one girl looked out the window and saw a man whom she did not know. Both girls ran into the bathroom and called the Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.
When deputies arrived, they found no one else in the home but did find the rear sliding door open and a large china cabinet blocking the doorway. The girls told deputies that they heard the china cabinet being moved, and heard Spanish being spoken by two men. They told authorities that the noises might have been coming from their mother’s room.
One girl gave deputies the description of the man she saw outside the front door, who she said had a medium complexion and was wearing an orange shirt.
Deputies walked through the neighborhood, and asked if anyone had seen a man with an orange shirt in the company of another man. One witness told the authorities she had seen two men in the area, and deputies found the two men walking near 5600 Warren Street.
Lorenzo Martinez-Alvarez was wearing an orange shirt, and one of the girls was able to identify as the man at her door, authorities said.
