50 citations issued for violating irrigation restrictions

Naples police issued 50 citations Tuesday to people violating the city’s landscape irrigation restrictions, spokesman Lt. Jon Maines said. Another 29 citations were issued Saturday and Sunday, he said.

The city’s landscape irrigation restrictions allow for any type of lawn watering at odd number addresses from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Watering at even number addresses is allowed from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Low-volume hand watering is allowed from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on those days.

There is a $25 fine for first- time violations. Maines said subsequent violations require a mandatory court appearance, a fine not to exceed $300 and possible jail time.
