Sundaes benefit Humane Society

A promotion called Dog Day Sundae will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Carvel Ice Cream Shop, 609 Eighth St. S., Naples. Proceeds will go to help orphaned pets at the Humane Society of Collier County. Dog will also be available for adoption. Information: 775-2253

Dinner for Eden Florida

Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 12631 U.S. 41 E., Naples, will celebrate its opening by donating proceeds from every meal served from 4-10 p.m. Monday to Eden Florida. Information: 774-2965

Auction for Opera Naples

Opera Naples is trying to raise $25,000 to present “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” Go to fmtalker@daveontheair.com to get information about trips, dinners, flowers and other services until 5 p.m. June 15.

Barbecue

Kiwanis Club of Naples on the Gulf is sponsoring a chicken barbecue from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. June 17 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5800 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples. Proceeds benefit the Boy Scouts of America, Ronald McDonald’s Care Mobile and Step By Step. $10 (adults), $6 (children). Information: 253-2779

Soapfest

Actors from “One Life to Live,” “All My Children,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light” will participate at various festivities at the Southwest Florida Soapfest:

-- Celebrity Bartender Bash at Cocomo’s Grill, 10 p.m. June 17, $25

-- Cruisin” Boozin’ & Schmoozin’ aboard the Marco Island Princess, 11:30 a.m. June 18, $75

-- Celebrity golf tournament on June 18.

Volunteers needed

Golf tournaments

-- Make-a-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida and Harry Chapin Food Bank will benefit from a tournament hosted by FreeWellnessTest.com at 8:30 a.m. June 17 at the Verandah Country Club, Fort Myers. An awards dinner will be held at 2 p.m. $150. Information: (239) 458-4474

-- The American Red Cross will sponsor a tournament on June 23 at the Club at TwinEagles, Naples. A continental breakfast will be served with an awards lunch following the tournament. $1,250 (foursome). Information: 596-6868, ext. 12.

Good deeds

-- Lee County Chick-Fil-A Restaurants donated 7,000 books to the Lee County Library System to ensure that every child enrolled in the “Book Feast” will receive a free book.

-- Collier County Public Library received $285,000 from the estate of the late Winifred H. McKenzie. The money will be used to buy audio and visual materials.

-- Highland Woods Country Club hosted the Duplicate Bridge Group of Southwest Florida Awards luncheon with 20 teams and 160 women participating. The Alzheimer’s Support Network of Naples and Books for Bonita received cash contributions from the event.

-- The Saldukas Family Foundation awarded a grant to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida, Gulf Coast. The grant will be used to raise awareness and promote education.
