Attorney for man who brought son to sex sting asks to be taken off case

Irreconcilable differences may separate a defense lawyer and a Naples man who is facing charges after he was caught on tape going with his young son to a Fort Myers house where he’d arranged to meet a 14-year-old boy.

Clifford E. Wallach, of 948 Hampton Circle, was arrested April 23 by Fort Myers Police and charged with soliciting a child via computer and cruelty toward a child. The charges came after police set up a sting house in April in connection with an undercover investigation by Dateline and Perverted-Justice.com, which is involved on such stings across the country.

Wallach, along with 23 other men, was shown on Dateline’s “To Catch a Predator” episodes that aired Wednesday night and twice in May.

Court records show criminal defense lawyer Steven Leskovich requested to withdraw from Wallach’s case. Citing irreconcilable differences, Leskovich wrote that Wallach also wants him off the case.

Messages were left Thursday for Wallach and Leskovich, but they could not be reached for comment.

A hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 15 in Lee County Circuit Court, where Circuit Judge Thomas S. Reese may allow Leskovich to withdraw. Wallach’s trial tentatively is set for Aug. 14.
