A 20 percent chance of rain is in the forecast today in Southwest Florida with the high temperature reaching the low 90s. Factor in the humidity, and it will feel like triple-digit heat, the National Weather Service said.
The chance of rain will increase to 50 percent on Saturday and Sunday with partly cloudy skies, forecasters said.
Despite the rain chance, the sweltering heat will stick around. The weather service said the high should reach the low 90s on Saturday – with a heat index of 99 degrees -- and the upper 80s on Sunday.
Inland temperatures this weekend will stay in the upper 90s with the heat index over 100 degrees, the weather service said.
The average high temperature on today’s date is 89 degrees at Naples Municipal Airport, records indicate.
