Dear Editor:
I just read your article on Ben MacDonough and the VTC technology for homebound students with interest and thought it was really, really well written.
Working for the foundation has been extremely rewarding for me and the media day was of extreme satisfaction for me as I was the catalyst to bringing the program to Florida. I moved from Pennsylvania last year and had the pleasure of helping quite a few children and schools through the 'technology glitches.' In the end it was fantastic to see how much difference it made to these kids and their families.
Benjamin and his family have been fantastic throughout and I have come to think of them as friends.
Our goal is to bring this program into the whole of Florida and have already accessed funds from the SWF Community Foundation for five homebound students in Lee County. We plan on aggressively targeting the school districts in Florida over the summer vacation time so they can introduce the program to those in need in the new school year.
