Severe storm warning issued for Collier

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued this afternoon for parts of Collier County.

The National Weather Service office in Miami issued the warning for north-central Collier after radar indicated storms capable of producing 60 mph winds. The warning was posted through 5:15 p.m.

Two storms prompted the warning. One storm was located five miles south of Immokalee and second storm was three to five miles north of Immokalee, the weather service said.

Forecasters said the storms could produce strong winds, lightning and heavy rain.
