Editorial: School crossing guards

A 'thanks' to corner guardians

A belated "thank you" is extended to all the school crossing guards who worked to make the past school year a safe one.

They were out there every morning and afternoon directing cars and children.

Some of them were paid, some were old, some were volunteer parents and some were students themselves. They and their ceaselessly cheerful attitudes — oh, maybe except for the occasional senior traffic director who got cranky with chronic scofflaws — make the world a better place.

May they enjoy their summer time off, and may they all be back at their important posts come August.
