DUI checkpoints net nine arrests Friday in Naples

Sobriety checkpoints in Naples netted nine arrests Friday night and early Saturday, authorities said.

The Naples Police and Emergency Services Department operated two sobriety checkpoints in an attempt to remove unsafe drivers from the roadways, the agency reported Saturday.

The checkpoints were held from 9 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ninth Street South and Broad Avenue South, and at the intersection of Goodlette-Frank Road and Central Avenue.

Law enforcement officers from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Marco Island Police Department, Fort Myers Police Department, Cape Coral Police Department, and Florida Highway Patrol assisted at the checkpoints.

Naples police reported that 385 vehicles passed through the checkpoints and nine people were arrested and charged with driving under the influence. They are:

-- Jennifer Jean Panzigau, 57, of Eau Claire, Wis.

-- Alex Quejada, 26, of 4069 Full Moon St., Naples

-- Ashley M. Wait, 23, of 193 Tahiti Circle, East Naples

-- Robert E. Reel, 20, of 2247 Spruce St., East Naples

-- Jennifer Lee Weimer, 29, of 6115 Manchester Place, Naples

-- Bruce Fred Jackmack, 39, of 2737 Shoreview Drive, East Naples

-- Matthew Charles Morgan, 26, of Chicago, Ill.

-- Burl L. Seslar, 56, 2280 Hawk Ridge Loop, East Naples

-- A juvenile male, whose name, age and address weren’t available from police Saturday.
