Tropical Storm Alberto is hundreds of miles away from Southwest Florida, but its effects will be felt locally for the next couple of days.

Bands of showers associated with the tropical storm will continue across Southwest Florida today. The National Weather Service said showers will continue to move northeast with occasional heavy rain and gusty winds.
At 8 a.m., the storm’s eye was located 325 miles west of Naples.

Naples Municipal Airport has recorded 0.26 inches of rain today through 8 a.m., the weather service said. The airport picked up 0.89 inches on Sunday.
No weather warnings or watches were posted for Collier County this morning. A flood watch and high surf advisory were posted for Lee County.
The high surf advisory was set to expire at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The high temperature is expected to reach the mid-80s today inland and near the coast. Skies will be mostly cloudy with winds of 15 mph and chances of rain all day, forecasters said.
According to the weather service, other weather threats today include a slight risk of tornadoes, a moderate risk of waterspouts, winds of 40 mph in heavier thunderstorms, flooding and wave heights reaching 6 feet.
The chance of storms will continue tonight with a low in the mid-70s, then storms will stay in the forecast on Tuesday with highs in the mid-80s.
A typical rainy season trend will stick around later this week with chances of afternoon storms and high temperatures near 90 degrees.
