FGCU partnership to boost business opportunities

A delegation from Yantai, a coastal city in China known for its tourism and technological development, will visit the Florida Gulf Coast University campus Wednesday to sign an agreement that will allow for a partnership between the two schools and expand business opportunities in Lee and Collier counties.

A business alliance being formed with Yantai will involve FGCU's business school along with the Economic Development Council offices of Collier, Lee, Charlotte and Hendry counties.

The agreement between the universities developed shortly after FGCU signed an agreement with Nankai University in China last year to offer joint business degrees and launched the FGCU Institute for Chinese Studies.

Along with a signing ceremony Wednesday at FGCU, the seven-member delegation from Yantai University is scheduled to visit with local school district officials and the Regional Business Alliance of Southwest Florida and Economic Development Councils.

The signing ceremony will be on the main campus at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the ballroom of the Student Union Building.
