Hospitals seeking blood ahead of holiday

Lee Memorial Health System is out for blood in preparation for the approaching Fourth of July holiday.

The community blood drive is scheduled for the end of the month, but the hospitals need blood now, according to an e-mail from Lee Memorial spokeswoman Karen Krieger.

Lee Memorial is seeking blood types O, A and B negative.

There are blood centers at each hospital: the Lee Memorial Hospital center can be reached at (239) 334-5333; Cape Coral Hospital at (239) 573-5400 and HealthPark Medical Center at (239) 432-3604.

Lee Memorial also has a bloodmobile that travels to various locations throughout the county. The bloodmobile schedule is available at the blood centers.
