Heavy rains on June 12 and 13, 1976, damaged seawalls on Bimini Avenue, Wavecrest Court and between Butterfield and Firwood Courts. All three sites were adjacent to vacant lots.

Goodland's Bud Kirk, owner of B and B Hauling Company, requested a seven-year extension to his contract for garbage collection on Marco Island. He also asked for rate hikes, which he had not done for several years, of $1 on residential pickup and $1.50 on commercial containers.

Marco Islander John Pistor announced that he would seek the Republican nomination for District 1 Collier County Commissioner. He decided to run in part because he felt Marco Island was not getting a fair return for what it paid in taxes to the county.
