A new director has been appointed to Catholic Charities of Collier County.
Mike D’Amico, a psychologist formerly with the David Lawrence Mental Health Center, has taken the helm of Catholic Charities, which operates a range of social service programs for the needy in the community.
D’Amico replaces George Drobinski, who was the director of Catholic Charities for the past seven years. Drobinski has accepted a position as executive director of Hope for Haiti, a Naples-based nonprofit group.
While at David Lawrence, D’Amico ran the children’s services department for the past 11 years and previously was a psychologist in private practice in Boston.
Catholic Charities served more than 20,000 people last year through its counseling center, its family resource center and through Guadalupe Social Services in Immokalee.
