Bonita Springs' Peter Jacobsen double-bogeyed No. 9 to fall to 3-over-par after his front nine at the U.S. Open today.
Jacobsen was tied for 49th as he headed to the back nine at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Naples resident Rocco Mediate teed off in the morning, shooting a 6-over-par 76. Mediate was 1-over after the front nine, but went bogey-double bogey-bogey on Nos. 12-14. Mediate has been beset by back problems, beginning in the final rounds of The Masters.
Michael Harris, the 2003 Beck's Open winner who has been a winter professional at Hideout Golf Club, also shot a 76. Fort Myers' George McNeill, who won the Beck's in 2002, started out double bogey-bogey before birdieing No. 5 to get to 2-over, but double-bogeyed No. 7 to fall to 4-over.
