The Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded at 6:15 p.m. to an Immokalee home after a grandmother reported that a man had touched her granddaughter. Authorities didn’t identify the location of the incident because of the nature of the alleged crime.
Based on statements from the victim and witnesses -- the grandmother and the victim’s 8-year-old sister – the man approached the girls in their yard and put his hands down the 4-year-old girl’s underwear. The girl’s name wasn’t released because of the nature of the incident.
After the incident, the girls ran inside and told their grandmother, who confronted the man, identified as Luis Alvarado 48, 1414 Apple St., Immokalee. Alvarado denied it and walked away, authorities said.
Alvarado is known to the family but isn’t a relative.
Deputies were given a clothing description and nickname of Alvarado at about 7:50 p.m., and he was found at the Tex Mex at 2307 Lake Trafford Road. He had a prior trespass warning for that location and was charged with trespassing after warning, authorities said.
Alvarado was taken into custody and questioned about touching the girl, which he denied doing. He was charged with sexual battery -- victim under 12, suspect 18 or older, and trespassing after warning.
