South Lee mall hires marketing director

Developers of the Gulf Coast Town Center have hired a marketing director to oversee advertising and publicity for the 1.7 million square-foot mega mall being built in San Carlos Park.

Ashleigh Henry, a public relations graduate from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., has been named to the position. Henry has previously held the position of assistant marketing director for the 200-store Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Gulf Coast Mall on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway will hold 15 anchor stores, two hotels and about 120 specialty shops and restaurants when completed.

The mall is being built in three phases and opened to the public last year with a Super Target celebrating its grand opening in October. A 16-screen Regal theater opened last month in the open-air mall.

A Bass Pro Shops, Borders, JC Penney, Belk and Costco will be part of the second phase of construction.
