Barron grad's homerun helps lift Clemson

Barron Collier graduate Andy D'Alessio smacked a three-run homer to key an eight-run eighth to lead Clemson to an 8-4, come-from-behind victory over Georgia Tech in the opener of the College World Series today in Omaha, Neb.

D'Alessio's shot gave Clemson the lead for the first time, 6-4. The junior first baseman ended up 2-for-3, and finished the game on a ground ball to first.

The Tigers will play Cal State-Fullerton or North Carolina in the winner's bracket at 7 p.m. Sunday.
