Former Florida Everblades defenseman Vince Williams was hired Thursday by the Trenton Titans as an assistant coach.
The 30-year-old Williams, who played all of 2001-02 and part of 2002-03 for Florida, had eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) and 80 penalty minutes in 2005-06. He spent eight seasons in the ECHL, registering 93 points (23 goals, 70 assists) and 585 penalty minutes in 461 games with Columbus (Ohio), Florida and Trenton, including winning a Kelly Cup with the Titans in 2005 over the Everblades. An ankle injury kept him out of that series, won by Trenton in six games.
During his first season with Florida, Williams scored 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists).
He only had one goal in 12 games the following season before breaking his wrist and was traded to Trenton in in 2003 just as he was ready to come off injured reserve.
