Teen charged with burglarizing boats

A Bonita Springs teenager has been charged with burglarizing several boats at Weeks Fish Camp.

Kyle Rhodes, 18, of 25314 Busy Bee Lane, was charged with 10 counts of burglary and four counts of theft Thursday for his role in an overnight spree in late May.

According to Lee County Sheriff's reports, sometime overnight on May 24, Rhodes forced entry into several boats at 23193 Weeks Fish Camp Road, in Bonita Springs.

It is unknown how many boats he entered or attempted to enter, said LCSO spokesman Angelo Vaughn. Once inside the boats, reports state that Rhodes took more than $2,500 in equipment, including stereos and a GPS system.

Because of the scope of the break-ins, it is believed that Rhodes had others with him, Vaughn said. Additional arrests are pending.

Rhodes was captured after fingerprints on the scene were matched to his, taken at a previous arrest for illegal fishing.

Rhodes was still in the Lee County Jail on Friday afternoon, where he awaited $2,500 bail on each burglary charge and $2,000 on each theft charge.
