A Lee County sheriff’s deputy briefly was hospitalized Friday night after her patrol car was struck by another vehicle in Fort Myers.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Cpl. Stacey Caivano, 35, a 13-year veteran of the department, was on her way to assist another deputy when her car was hit as she passed through an intersection with her lights and sirens on.
Reports state Caivano was northbound on Metro Parkway at Colonial Boulevard. As she traveled through the intersection, a westbound 1995 Mercedes driven by Edward Eusanio stuck her passenger side.
Caivano was treated at Lee Memorial Hospital for a strained lower back and bruised knee. She later was released.
Eusanio has been charged with failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
