Lee BIA's Commercial Contractors Council presents inaugural Summit Awards

— The First Annual Summit Awards were held at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa on June 10. The big winners of the evening were Stevens Construction and Wright Construction Corporation, both winning six awards. Sheeley Architects received five.

Mark Stevens, of Stevens Construction, serves as chairman for the Commercial Contractors Council. Stevens helped to spur the inaugural event into action.

The Summit Awards pay tribute to Building Industry Association members who have obtained an outstanding level of success and professionalism in the commercial construction and marketing industry during the previous year.

The awards were created by the Commercial Contractors Council of the BIA. Competition is open to all members of the BIA, their advertising agencies and marketing consultants.

The Summit Award winners are:

Best Health Care Building - $1-$2 Million: Compass Construction Inc., Crowne Plaza Medical Building

Best Multi-Family Residential Building: $0-$5 Million - Merit Award: Compass Construction Inc., Van Loon Commons & Clubhouse

Newcomer Award for a Subcontractor: Crowther Roofing and Sheet Metal of Florida Inc.

Architectural Design of the Year - Health Care: Gora McGahey, Associates in Architecture, Crowne Plaza Medical Building

Best Logo Design for a Contractor - Merit: Hammer Commercial Services, Hammer Commercial Services

Best Industry Web site for a Contractor: Hammer Commercial Services, www.hammercommercial.com

Best Construction Management - $2-$5 Million: J.L. Wallace Inc., Heritage Isles Clubhouse

Best Amenities: J.L. Wallace Inc., Bella Terra Clock Tower

Contractor of the Year: Owen-Ames-Kimball Company
