County: Water park on track for Wednesday opening

A county official said today she remains confident the Sun-N-Fun Lagoon will open at its scheduled time on Wednesday.

Camden Smith, a spokeswoman for the county's Division of Public Services, said Collier County Health Department inspectors are finishing inspections and everything appears to be set for a 4 p.m. Wednesday opening.

“We are working very hard,” Smith said today. “We fully anticipate to open up on Wednesday.”

The park will stay open until 7 p.m. Wednesday and will be free for all Collier County residents. Normal hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. will start on Thursday.

The grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Items that need to be repaired or installed include rescue equipment, tightening loose hand rails and addressing drainage and filtration issues.

The park is at 15000 Livingston Road, south of Immokalee Road.
