A few strong thunderstorms are possible across Southwest Florida today, although most of the area should stay dry, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service said the area has a 40 percent chance of seeing storms this afternoon. Storms likely will develop in interior Florida, then move toward the Gulf Coast in the late afternoon and early evening.
The strongest storms could bring gusty winds, small hail and flooding of poorly drained areas, forecasters said.
The high temperature is expected to reach about 92 degrees with a heat index of about 100. The low tonight should drop to about 73 degrees, the weather service said.
A 30 percent chance of storms is in the forecast for Wednesday with a high of about 92 degrees.
Highs through the weekend should stay in the low 90s with a chance of rain each day. Records indicate Naples Municipal Airport picks up an average of 8.18 inches of rain in June.
