The Fort Myers Miracle pulled into a tie atop the Florida State League's Western Division with an 11-3 win Tuesday night over the Lakeland Tigers at Hammond Stadium.
Fort Myers, which trailed by two games with three to go when the first half of the season resumed after the All-Star break, are tied with Dunedin for first place. The Tampa Yankees helped the Miracle out by scoring seven runs over the final three innings, including four in the ninth to defeat Dunedin, 8-6.
Jeremy Pickrel tripled home Matt Tolbert in the second inning to get the Miracle going. It was Pickrel's league-leading 10th triple of the season. Trevor Plouffe followed with his first homer of the season, a two-run shot to left.
Brock Peterson slugged his seventh homer in the third inning to make it 4-0.
Brian Duensing went six strong innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six to pick up the win.
Fort Myers and Lakeland meet again tonight. If the Miracle win and the Blue Jays lose, the Miracle win the division. A loss by the Miracle or a Blue Jays win gives Dunedin the division. Fort Myers will send its ace, Kevin Slowey (4-1, 1.10), to the hill tonight against Jon Connolly (1-0, 3.00).
