Florida Gulf Coast University announced Tuesday the promotions of Jim Herlihy and Kathy Peterson within the athletic department.
Herlihy, who spent the last two years as the school's sports information director, is now the Director of Internal Relations.
Peterson, who had been FGCU's Director of NCAA Compliance, now is the Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator.
Herlihy now is responsible for financial reporting and budgetary accounting and has general oversight of event operations and athletic facilities, administrative services, sports information and marketing. He also will serve as the program administrator for both men's and women's cross country, men's soccer and men's golf in addition to coordinating the department's graduate assistant and internship programs.
Peterson will oversee all necessary self-studies and strategic plans for the NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference and the preparation of financial bids for NCAA and conference postseason events. She also will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of volleyball, women's soccer, women's swimming and women's golf. In addition to these duties, Peterson will serve as the athletic director for internal matters in the absence of athletic director Carl McAloose.
A search for a new sports information director as well as Director of Compliance is currently underway.
