The National Weather Service said scattered storms could develop this afternoon and early this evening near the coast. Some strong storms could occur today – the first full day of summer, forecasters said.
Storms could contain gusty winds and small hail. The chance of rain today is 20 percent.
Storms on Wednesday prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for Collier County and a tornado was reported in Charlotte County.
The high today should reach about 92 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Factor in the humidity, and the temperature will feel more like 100 degrees, the weather service said.
After a low tonight of 72 degrees, another chance of rain will enter the forecast on Friday with a high of 92. A greater chance of storms is in the weekend forecast with highs in the low 90s.
Naples Municipal Airport officially picked up a trace of precipitation on Wednesday. Records indicate 6.01 inches of rain has fallen so far this month.
