Miracle open with win

The Fort Myers Miracle opened the second half of the Florida State League season with a 4-3, 12-inning win over the Clearwater Threshers at Hammond Stadium.

Brandon Roberts hit a grounder down the first-base line in the bottom of the 12th that went off the glove of Clearwater first baseman Bryan Hansen to score the winning run.

The same two teams play again at 7:05 tonight at Hammond Stadium.

-- SLOWEY PROMOTED: Fort Myers Miracle ace Kevin Slowey was promoted to Double-A New Britain on Thursday. Also promoted were Matt Tolbert and Garrett Guzman.

The Miracle received pitcher Jay Sawatski from New Britain.

Slowey finished his Miracle tenure going 4-2 with a 1.01 ERA in 14 games.
